Flag Day - June 14: Started by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Flag Day is celebrated on the 14th of June across the United States. In Red Wing, we are fortunate to conduct our ceremony along with our Steak Night at the Izaak Walton along the Mississippi River.
This ceremony is a tremendous reminder of the battles that have been fought to secure our freedom. |

Displaying Flags in Downtown Red Wing during Holidays: Several years ago, budget constraints caused the City of Red Wing to consider discontinuing the practice of flying the American flag during holidays in the city of Red Wing. Red Wing Lodge # 845 and its members adopted this project as one of its Veterans and Community support projects. Ranging from sub-zero days in February to celebrate President's Day to the summer heat at the Fourth of July, Elk members and spouses are proud to fly nearly 150 flags throughout the downtown area of our community to celebrate these events.

Supporting local veteran homes - Hastings, MN is the closest veterans facility to Red Wing. Thanks to the dues of our members, this facility receives a small check monthly from the Elks Grand Lodge to help support some of its social events for veterans who reside there.
In addition, thanks to the generosity of SB Foot Tanning Company in Red Wing, members of our lodge deliver bundles of leather that residents in Hastings and other local veterans homes are able to use for gloves and various craft projects. |
