Scholarships: Red Wing Elks # 845 proudly offers two scholarship programs. Through on-line applications, area seniors are able to apply for the Most Valuable Student Scholarships funded by the Elks National Foundation. In 2013, Allsion Rheinhart from Alma, WI sponsored by our lodge was the recipient of a four-year scholarship totalling $40,000! In 2014, we had several students advance past our local judging to receive Most Valuable Student Scholarships - Julia Hofer of Red Wing received a $2,000 State award while Kaesey Glaess of Cannon Falls advanced to National judging receiving a $4,000 award!
The second program is our local scholarship where our lodge awards three $1000 scholarships to local students. In 2014, these scholarships were awarded to Inga Dudley, Brianna Kelley and Kaitlin Carlson.

Dictionary Project: For the past 5 years, Red Wing Elks members have supported the Elks Dictionary Project.
Through member donations, our lodge provides dictionaries to 3rd grade students at Prairieview Elementary School across the river in Hager City, WI. Each year, students are eager to receive their very own dictionary reference guide and the teachers enjoy finding ways to utilize them in their classrooms. |
Soccer Shoot: This contest is open to kids ages 5 to 13 and provides an opportunity for them to challenge themselves by kicking for score at various size goals or, for older kids, at a grid on a larger goal.
Winners who advance past the local & district levels join other kids & their families from across the state for the State Soccer Shoot held at the Min Elks Youth Camp on Pelican Lake near Nisswa, MN. |
Drug Awareness: Through events like Downtown Main Street's annual Trunk or Treat, Red Wing Elks # 845 provide drug awareness items like coloring books or book marks to encourage kids to make good choices.
We also utlize the Drug Awareness trailer to promote this message during our Ice Fishing Contest and in the River City Days parade. |
